Title

'POST, POST'

‘Post, Post’ assembles a group of emerging artists who consider how mass media has desensitised the impact of images today. Following in suit of German Capitalist Realism, each artist sheds their individual perspective upon the apathy and inauthenticity of modern images through a myriad of themes. Ranging from the overstimulation of the internet through to false spirituality, these themes can be seen through the different mediums of painting, drawings, sculptures, textiles and video works. Within these mediums, the artists express themselves abrasively and honestly, leaving their mark upon the conversation of mass media.

The Exhibition was held in February of 2025.

ANGELA WARR

Angela Warr is a Brisbane based multidisciplinary artist who explores the theme of overstimulation in response to postmodern society. Cultivating a world of distorted freedom that displays human urges through animal iconography, Warr layers image upon image with tape, partially and fully covering forgotten drawings beneath the final work.

Within her recent series of works, “Automatic”, Warr explores the idea of a primitive ‘us vs them’ mindset. The idea of animalistic nature and automatic response is captured as a distorted flurry

FELIX MANFREDI

Felix Manfredi is a Brisbane-based Artist and Filmmaker, employing impressionistic approaches to snapshots of film. Manfredi aims to capture the light and airy atmosphere of nostalgic yet increasingly less distant moments through paint and film work. He utilises rough colour blending to highlight only the most integral subjects of each image and to amalgamate the background into a single fog of colour.

In this subset of work, Manfredi interlaces his filmic passion and otherworldly vision in a collaborative dance film project with Stetla Artist, @angela._.warr, and paintings based on digitally altered stills from past films. Manfredi believes strongly in the collaboration of multiple art disciplines to create rich work that unifies the disciplines of many artists.

MICHAEL STAVROU

As an emerging Brisbane-based artist, Michael Stavrou conceptualises Pop Culture iconography and characters into detailed scenes or snapshots of points in time. He captures aesthetic value within otherwise generic objects or landscapes, often to contextualise or provide a story to the images.

Recently, within his oil-painted series: “Liminal”, Stavrou depicts mismatched images of liminal concepts on canvas. Following in the footsteps of digital age contemporary artists, his works reflect this era where iconography and images are reaching an over-saturation, and the effect this has on visual truth.

FRANCIS LENTZ

Francis Lentz is a Brisbane-based artist who explores the rich painting traditions of the likes of Edvard Munch and Peter Doig in the style of Neo-expressionism. Lentz uses these traditional European painting techniques through oil paint on canvas, delivering his own perspective on post-internet Australia.

He finds that Australia’s conservative values and its simultaneous projection of modernity create weird, paradoxical social parameters for our generation.

FERGUS GREENSLADE

Fergus Greenslade is a Brisbane-based multidisciplinary artist who uses the practice of painting and carpet-making to explore the themes of consciousness in the digital age.

He states, “For this exhibition I wanted to focus on exploring the themes of consciousness and connection, specifically through nature’s cycle of life and death.”

Greenslade looks at the perpetuity of this cycle in nature, relating it back to his own human experience. An experience of disconnection and ignorance is seen in the distraction of the digital world. Due to this modern dilution of self through technology, He argues that humans have lost their connection to nature and thus death.

JOSH SUMMERS

As an aspiring designer, Josh Summers merges the themes of ancient indigenous styles of art from around the world with structured geometric abstractions. In his exhibition, the imagery reflects the perception of modern-day capitalist structures and industrial societies where humanity now lives in a flowing artificial organism, displacing them from Mother Nature.

Within his recent series,” Huntsman”, the motifs of faces, animal imagery, and fluorescent colours blur the boundaries between natural and artificial. He centralises this style, putting into question the contemporary first-world humans' relationship with nature and how its current exploitation may have deeper impacts than just rising temperatures.

CAMBELL JONES

Brisbane-based artist Campbell Jones explores the impermanence of existence through themes of entropy, aging, and erosion. The work reflects a personal and philosophical inquiry into resilience, interconnectedness, and the tension between decay and renewal.

In his series Remain Unbroken, torn and interlaced materials evoke the fragility of identity and the beauty of transformation. These textures reflect meditations on aging and the pathways connecting individuals and environments, revealing the beauty of imperfection. Absorbing light while inviting reflection on the interplay of chaos, order, and connection, the works offer a visual language that honors change and the human desire for meaning in our digital age.
